| Full Description Text Body | *Pasture: Guidance for Protecting Crop Health During On-Farm Recharge* is a two-page resource intended to help growers and pasture managers consider groundwater recharge while protecting the health of their forage crops. It addresses the series’ central planning question: how much water can be applied, and for how long, without harming the crop? The guidance series examines how crop growth stage, temperature, root-zone oxygen, and soil infiltration and drainage influence recharge suitability. It supports using site-specific assessment and field monitoring to inform water application and the time allowed for soils to drain between recharge events. Intended primarily for growers and pasture managers, this resource also supports agronomists, crop advisors, and technical assistance providers working on agricultural managed aquifer recharge. The sheet is part of the Flood-MAR Network’s Recharge & Crop Health guidance series, developed with Sustainable Conservation as a project partner. Individual sheets cover alfalfa, almonds, annual crops, pasture, pistachios, vineyards, and walnuts, helping practitioners consider recharge opportunities across different agricultural settings. |
