During this February 2, 2022 Lunch-MAR session, Jesse Roseman with the California Almond Board presented their recent report “Introduction to Groundwater Recharge.” This report provides guidance to California almond growers to evaluate their options for addressing local sub-basin overdraft through recharge, helping secure reliable, sufficient, and drought resilient groundwater supplies.

The report poses four key questions that growers need to consider if their orchard is suitable for groundwater recharge:
1. Do I have access to surface water for recharge?
2. Is my orchard soil suitable for recharge?
3. What recharge methods are available?
4. What orchard management changes are necessary to perform recharge?
