Water Quality Impacts During Flood-MAR on Vineyards

Presenter: Amelia Vankeuren, Sacramento State University

Sneak Peek: Sacramento State Geology Professor Amelia Vankeuren will share findings from five years of monitoring water quality during Flood-MAR on vineyards in Sacramento County. The talk explores how flooding fields affects water chemistry and flow, including potential contamination from nutrients, pesticides, and trace metals; and tracers of groundwater source, flow path, and age. Results highlight how recharge water interacts with existing groundwater and aquifer sediments and provide insight into water quality implications of Flood-MAR on agricultural land.
